The scholarship provides financial assistance ranging from INR 15,000 to INR 20,00,000 per academic year, depending on the scholarship category and applicable terms and conditions.

The last date to apply is September 19, 2026, and applications are being accepted through the online mode only.

Who Can Apply for SBI Asha Scholarship?

The SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2026-27 is open to Indian nationals enrolled in eligible educational programmes.

Students studying in Classes 9 to 12, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, MBBS courses, IIT programmes and IIM programmes can apply, subject to the specific eligibility requirements of their respective scholarship category.

For the overseas studies category, eligibility is restricted to SC/ST Indian nationals meeting the prescribed requirements.

Applicants are required to satisfy academic and family-income criteria to be considered for the scholarship.

Academic Eligibility

Applicants must have secured at least 75% marks or a 7.0 CGPA in the relevant qualifying examination.

For SC/ST applicants, a 10% relaxation is available in the academic eligibility requirement.

In addition to academic performance, applicants must meet the institution-specific requirements applicable to their chosen scholarship category.

These requirements vary depending on whether the applicant is studying at a general undergraduate or postgraduate institution, a medical institution, IIT, IIM or an eligible overseas university.

Family Income Requirement

The scholarship also includes an annual family-income criterion.

For students studying in Classes 9 to 12, the annual family income must not exceed INR 3 lakh.

For applicants in the other eligible categories, including higher education programmes, the annual family income must not exceed INR 6 lakh.

Applicants must meet the applicable income limit for the scholarship category under which they are applying.

Institution Eligibility for UG and PG Students

For applicants pursuing general undergraduate or postgraduate programmes, the educational institution must satisfy specified quality or ranking requirements.

The institution should either have a NAAC Grade 'A' or above or be placed among the Top 300 in the NIRF Overall 2025-26 ranking.

Therefore, students pursuing eligible UG or PG programmes need to ensure that their institution meets at least one of the prescribed institutional criteria.

Eligibility for Medical Students

Medical applicants can apply if they are pursuing their studies at AIIMS or at a medical institution included among the Top 50 in the NIRF medical ranking.

Students applying under the medical category must also satisfy the other applicable scholarship conditions, including the prescribed academic and family-income requirements.

Overseas Studies Scholarship

The SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship also includes support for eligible overseas studies.

However, the overseas studies component is available only to SC/ST Indian nationals.

Applicants pursuing overseas education must be enrolled at an institution ranked among the Top 200 in QS or THE rankings.

They must also possess a valid offer or acceptance letter from the eligible institution.

Depending on the category, applicants may additionally be required to meet specific entrance or proficiency score requirements.

Scholarship Amount and Financial Support

Under the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2026-27, selected students can receive financial assistance ranging from INR 15,000 to INR 20,00,000 per academic year.

The exact scholarship amount depends on the applicable scholarship category.

The scholarship support can be used towards eligible education-related expenses. These may include tuition fees, accommodation, books, examination fees and educational equipment.

The financial assistance is therefore intended to help eligible students manage various costs associated with their education.

Scholarship Renewal

Scholarship renewal is not automatic.

Students who receive the scholarship must continue to meet the applicable eligibility conditions. Renewal is subject to factors including continued eligibility, academic performance and verification each year.
