The bank has also stated that candidates can apply for only one post. In case of multiple applications, only the latest valid completed application will be retained, while the application fee or intimation charges paid for other multiple registrations will be forfeited.

The notification also specifies that candidates should be ready to work anywhere in India and that the bank reserves the right to post or transfer officers anywhere in the country according to its requirements.

Pay Scale for Bank of India Officer Posts

The recruitment notification provides the applicable basic pay scales for the different management grades.

    Selection Process

The Bank of India recruitment process may include an online examination and/or personal interview, depending on the number of applicants and eligible candidates.

The online examination structure mentioned in the notification includes an English Language test carrying 25 marks and a Professional Knowledge test carrying 100 marks. The composite examination time is 100 minutes. The bank has also reserved the right to modify the examination structure, with any changes to be communicated through its official website.

The English Language test is qualifying in nature, meaning its marks are not added while preparing the merit list. The notification specifies minimum qualifying marks of 35% for General and EWS candidates in the English Language and Professional Knowledge tests, with a 5% relaxation for eligible SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates applying against reserved vacancies.

There is also a penalty for incorrect answers in the objective tests. For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. No penalty applies when a question is left unanswered.

Where both the online examination and interview are conducted, the notification provides a 60:40 weightage between the online examination and interview. The final selection is based on the combined scores, subject to the candidate being found suitable in both stages.

Examination Centres in Jammu and Kashmir

The notification lists examination centres across various states and Union Territories. In Jammu and Kashmir, the tentative examination centres are Samba, Srinagar and Jammu.

The bank has stated that requests for changing the examination centre will not be entertained. It also reserves the right to cancel or add examination centres depending on administrative feasibility and the response received. Candidates may also be allotted a centre different from the one selected by them.

    Important Update for Ex-Servicemen Candidates

The September 25 extension notice also modifies a provision concerning ex-serviceman candidates.

Under the revised provision, an ex-serviceman candidate must produce a copy of the Service or Discharge Book or pension payment order, along with documentary proof of the last or presently held rank, including substantive as well as acting rank, at the time of interview.

Candidates who are still serving in the defence services must submit a certificate from the competent authority confirming that they will be relieved from defence service on or before October 5, 2027. This replaces the earlier date mentioned in the August 1 notification.

Bank of India Recruitment 2026: What Candidates Should Note

Candidates interested in the recruitment should take note of the revised deadline of October 5, 2026. The bank has specifically stated that the other contents of the original August 1, 2026 notification will remain unchanged.

The recruitment notice also requires candidates to produce relevant original documents and photocopies at the interview stage, wherever applicable. These include educational qualification documents, identity proof, category certificates, experience certificates and other documents supporting eligibility.

The revised Bank of India notice dated September 25, 2026 therefore provides candidates additional time to complete their applications for the officer recruitment process. The extended deadline is now October 5, 2026, while the eligibility reference date remains August 1, 2026.
