UIIC AO Recruitment 2026: 225 Administrative Officer Posts, Apply Online from September 8

United India Insurance Company (UIIC) has issued a recruitment notification for Administrative Officer (Scale-I) positions in the Generalists and Hindi Officers disciplines. The notification, dated September 7, 2026, invites eligible candidates to apply through the online mode.

According to the recruitment notification, UIIC is a public sector general insurance company wholly owned by the Government of India. The company reported a gross premium of more than Rs. 21,400 crore and more than 1,200 offices, including service hubs, across the country as of March 31, 2026.

A total of 225 vacancies have been announced, comprising 200 posts for Administrative Officer-Generalists and 25 posts for Administrative Officer-Hindi Officers.

UIIC AO Vacancy Details

For the Generalist discipline, the provisional category-wise distribution includes 18 posts for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 30 for Scheduled Caste (SC), 62 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 22 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and 68 for the Unreserved (UR) category.

For Hindi Officers, the distribution includes one ST post, four SC posts, seven OBC posts, two EWS posts and 11 UR posts. The notification also provides horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

The company has clarified that the category-wise vacancy figures are provisional and may be changed or interchanged during the recruitment process. EWS vacancies are also subject to further Government of India directives and the outcome of litigation or court cases.

Candidates can apply for either Generalists or Hindi Officers, but not both. Multiple registrations or appearances can result in cancellation of candidature. Existing Administrative Officers (Scale-I) serving in UIIC are also not eligible for this recruitment.

Posting and Service Location

The notification states that the vacancies are substantially concentrated in the Western and Southern zones of the country. Selected candidates are therefore likely to be posted mostly in offices located in these zones.

The initial posting period will be for a minimum of five years, during which requests for transfer to a place of choice will not be entertained. The company may subsequently post or transfer selected candidates to any location in India.

UIIC AO Educational Qualification

For Administrative Officer-Generalists, candidates must hold a Graduate Degree or Post Graduate qualification in any discipline from a recognised university. The notification specifically includes disciplines such as Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture and Data Science.

Candidates are required to have secured at least 60% marks, while the minimum is 55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.

For Hindi Officers, the notification specifies several eligible Master's degree combinations involving Hindi and English. These include a Master's degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or medium of examination, as well as a Master's degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject.

Certain Master's degrees in subjects other than Hindi or English are also accepted where the prescribed Hindi-English subject and medium combinations are fulfilled. The required marks are 60%, reduced to 55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.

The qualification must have been obtained from a recognised institution and completed by June 30, 2026. Candidates whose final examination results were declared after that date are not eligible under the notification. Working knowledge of computers is also mandatory.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The prescribed age limit is 21 to 30 years as on June 30, 2026. Candidates must have been born between June 30, 1996, and June 30, 2005, both dates inclusive.

Upper-age relaxation is available for specified categories. SC/ST candidates receive five years of relaxation, while OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates receive three years. PwBD candidates are eligible for 10 years of relaxation.

The notification also provides five years for eligible ex-servicemen, three years for specified defence personnel disabled during operations, nine years for eligible widows, divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried, and eight years for existing confirmed employees of public sector general insurance companies. Cumulative relaxation is subject to a maximum age of 45 years.

Application Dates and Fee

The UIIC AO 2026 online registration process commenced on September 8, 2026, and the last date to submit the application is September 28, 2026. The deadline for payment of the application fee or service charges is also September 28.

The tentative date for the Tier-I Preliminary Examination is October 22, 2026, while the Tier-II Main Examination is tentatively scheduled for November 30, 2026. Call letters are expected to be available seven days before the respective examinations.

Applicants other than SC, ST, PwBD candidates and permanent UIIC employees have to pay Rs. 1,000 plus applicable GST, including service charges. For SC, ST, PwBD candidates and permanent UIIC employees, the application fee is nil, but Rs. 250 plus applicable GST is payable towards service charges. The amount once paid is non-refundable.

UIIC AO Exam Pattern 2026

The selection process comprises the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Descriptive Test and Interview. Candidates who qualify the required stages are shortlisted for the subsequent stages.

The Tier-I Preliminary Examination is common to Generalists and Hindi Officers. It carries 100 marks and has a duration of one hour. The examination consists of 30 questions in English Language for 30 marks, 35 Reasoning questions for 35 marks and 35 Quantitative Aptitude questions for 35 marks. Each section is separately timed for 20 minutes.

For Generalists, the Tier-II objective examination carries 250 marks and includes English Language, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness with special reference to the Financial Sector, and Computer Knowledge. The objective test has 200 questions and is conducted for 150 minutes.

The Generalist Descriptive Test carries 30 marks and lasts 30 minutes. It consists of English letter writing for 10 marks and an English essay for 20 marks.

For Hindi Officers, the Main Examination carries 200 marks in the objective section. It covers English Language, Reasoning, Professional Knowledge, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. The Professional Knowledge section includes Hindi and English grammar and vocabulary, knowledge of rules relating to official language implementation, and translation between English and Hindi.

The Hindi Officer Descriptive Test carries 50 marks over 60 minutes and includes an English essay, Hindi essay, Hindi letter writing, English-to-Hindi translation and Hindi-to-English translation.

There is a penalty for wrong answers in both Preliminary and Main objective examinations. For every incorrect answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Unanswered questions do not attract a penalty.

Final Merit and Interview

For Generalists, the marks obtained in the Tier-II Objective Test and Interview will determine the final merit in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary Examination and Descriptive Test marks will not be counted for the final merit list.

For Hindi Officers, the Tier-II Main Examination, comprising objective and descriptive components, and the Interview will carry a 75:25 weightage respectively. Tier-I marks will not be included in the final selection merit.

Candidates qualifying in the Main Examination may be called for interview up to three times the number of vacancies in the respective categories and disciplines. Eligible outstation candidates called for interview may receive reimbursement of Sleeper Class railway fare or applicable bus fare by the shortest route, subject to the prescribed conditions and submission of valid travel proof.

Salary and Benefits

The selected Administrative Officers will receive basic pay in the scale of Rs. 82,485-4,050(14)-1,39,185-4,390(4)-1,56,745, along with applicable allowances.

Other benefits listed in the notification include Gratuity, LTS, medical benefits, Group Personal Accident Insurance, National Pension System (NPS) and leased accommodation, as applicable under company rules. The approximate gross pay at metropolitan centres is Rs. 1.10 lakh per month.

Probation and Five-Year Service Undertaking

Selected candidates who are medically fit may be appointed as Administrative Officers (Scale-I) on one-year probation, which can be extended at the company's discretion. During probation, officers may undergo prescribed theoretical or practical training.

They are also required to pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India before confirmation. Failure to clear the examination within the extended probation period may result in termination after the specified period.

Before joining, selected candidates are required to undertake to serve UIIC for a minimum of five years, including the probation period. Resignation before completion of the bond period can attract liquidated damages based on the actual gross salary paid, subject to the prescribed limit, along with Rs. 35,000 towards onboarding and integration costs.

How to Apply for UIIC AO Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online between September 8 and September 28, 2026. Before registration, candidates are required to keep their photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration ready in the prescribed format.

The notification states that the handwritten declaration must be written by the candidate in English and should not be in capital letters. Applicants must also maintain an active personal email ID and mobile number throughout the recruitment process because official communications will be sent through these channels.

Candidates can register through the Recruitment section of the company's website by selecting the online application option. After entering the required details, a provisional registration number and password are generated. Applicants are advised to carefully verify all information before completing registration, as changes are not entertained after final submission.
