SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: 1,538 Backlog Vacancies for SC, ST & OBC Candidates, Apply by August 27

The State Bank of India (SBI) has opened the online application process for a special recruitment drive for Junior Associates (Customer Support and Sales), commonly referred to as SBI Clerk posts. The recruitment drive is aimed at recruiting candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories for the backlog vacancies.

According to the notification, a total of 1,538 vacancies are to be filled through the recruitment drive.

Eligible candidates belonging to the above mentioned casts can submit their applications through the bank’s official portal, sbi.bank.in. The last date to submit application is August 27, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be graduates between 20 and 28 years of age. Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification. Applicants pursuing an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) programme must verify and ensure that their date of passing satisfies the recruitment requirements. Students in the final year of their graduation programme may also apply on a provisional basis, but they must complete the required degree before joining SBI if selected. Candidates are additionally required to possess basic computer literacy as part of the eligibility requirements for the Junior Associate positions.

SBI has not prescribed a fixed limit on the number of attempts for the Clerk examination. Eligible candidates can therefore appear for the recruitment examination multiple times, provided they continue to satisfy the applicable eligibility conditions, including the prescribed age and educational requirements.

The SBI Clerk recruitment process comprises multiple stages, with candidates required to qualify at each stage to remain in contention for final selection. Applicants will first have to appear for the preliminary examination, followed by the main examination for candidates who qualify the initial stage. Candidates will subsequently be required to clear the prescribed Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Final recruitment will be considered only for candidates who successfully meet the requirements at the relevant stages of the selection process.

Application fee

Candidates applying for the OBC vacancies must pay an application fee of Rs 750. However, the SC and ST categories applicants don’t need to pay any fee as they have been exempted from paying the registration fee.
