Ladakh Police Constable Recruitment 2026: 331 Vacancies, Eligibility, PET/PST, Exam Pattern and Application Details

The Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board has issued Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2026 for the direct recruitment of Constables in Ladakh Police. The notification, dated August 24, 2026, covers vacancies in the Constable General Cadre, Border Battalion and Women Battalion.

According to the recruitment notification, a total of 331 Constable posts are available under the recruitment drive. The vacancies have been distributed across Executive/Armed/IRP/SDFR, Border Battalion and Women Battalion categories, with district-wise allocation specified in the official notification.

The recruitment process will include physical standards and physical endurance tests, document scrutiny, written examination and other prescribed stages. Candidates interested in applying are required to carefully check the eligibility conditions, age limit, educational qualification, physical requirements, fee and important dates before submitting their applications.

Ladakh Police Constable Recruitment 2026: Important Dates

The notification lists August 29, 2026 as the publication date of the recruitment notification and August 29, 2026 as the date from which online applications are to be submitted.

The last date for submission of online applications is September 15, 2026. The notification states that the start date for downloading admit cards will be notified separately.

The commencement of the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET) is scheduled from September 22, 2026 onwards. The date and venue for the written examination will be notified separately.

Candidates are advised to follow the official Ladakh Police website for subsequent notices concerning admit cards, examination schedules and other recruitment updates.

331 Constable Vacancies

The recruitment notification provides for 331 vacancies in total.

The broad distribution is as follows:

• Executive/Armed/IRP, SDFR: 141 posts

• Border Battalion: 168 posts

• Women Battalion: 22 posts

The vacancy position has been worked out following the reorganisation of districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh and redistribution of sanctioned strength/incumbency, as approved by the competent authority.

For the Border Battalion, district-wise vacancies include Nubra – 71, Changthang – 40, Sham – 13, Kargil – 43 and Drass – 01, making a total of 168 posts.

For the Women Battalion, the district-wise distribution includes Leh – 04, Nubra – 04, Changthang – 03, Zanskar – 02 and Drass – 09, totalling 22 posts.

Reservation and Special Categories

The notification states that reservation will be implemented in accordance with the applicable provisions of the UT of Ladakh Reservation (Amendment) Rules, 2025, along with the applicable roster and other administrative instructions.

The category-wise reservation shown in the notification includes Un-Reserved (UR) 5%, Scheduled Caste (SC) 1%, Scheduled Tribe (ST) 80%, Residents of Areas Adjoining Actual Line of Control (ALC) 4%, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) 10%.

Horizontal reservation provisions have also been specified for certain categories, including 15% for Serving Special Police Officers (SPOs), 4% for Voluntary Home Guards (VHGs), 4% for Outstanding Sportspersons (OSP), 20% for Ex-Aggrieved Warriors and 6% for Ex-Servicemen, subject to the applicable rules and conditions.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Constable posts must have passed 10th Class/Matriculation from a recognised Board of School Education.

The notification also contains a specific provision for Serving Special Police Officers. Such candidates must have completed at least three years of continuous engagement as on the last date of submission of applications and must fulfil the prescribed qualification.

The educational qualification is required to have been obtained on or before the last date prescribed for submission of the online application.

Age Limit

The prescribed age limit is 18 to 28 years, reckoned as on January 1, 2026, subject to permissible relaxations under the applicable recruitment rules and orders.

The notification provides five years' relaxation for SC/ST/ALC candidates. For Ex-Servicemen, the permissible relaxation is to be calculated by deducting the period of actual military service from the actual age for determining eligibility, subject to the applicable rules.

Serving SPOs and Serving VHGs with the required continuous engagement have an upper age limit of 37 years.

Desired Qualifications and Incentive Marks

The recruitment notice identifies certain desired qualifications that may be considered for incentive marks.

These include proficiency in driving and possession of a valid Light Motor Vehicle Driving Licence with transport endorsement, as well as a one-year Certificate Course in Computer Application from an institution recognised by AICTE, with documentary proof.

The desired qualification test can carry incentive marks up to 5% of the maximum marks of the written examination.

Additional incentive marks are prescribed for candidates possessing valid NCC certificates. Candidates with NCC ‘C’ Certificate can receive incentive marks of 5%, NCC ‘B’ Certificate holders 3%, and NCC ‘A’ Certificate holders 2%, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Physical Standard Test

The Physical Standard Test is qualifying in nature.

For male candidates, the prescribed minimum height is 162 cm. The minimum chest measurement is 81 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded.

For female candidates, the minimum height is 152 cm.

The notification also states that, in case of an appeal against physical measurement, the Chairman of the Board may permit re-measurement in accordance with the Standing Order. Candidates failing to qualify the PST will be disqualified and will not be permitted to participate in further stages of recruitment.

Physical Endurance Test

Only candidates who qualify the PST will be permitted to appear in the PET.

For male candidates, the PET consists of:

1. 1600-metre race in 7 minutes 30 seconds

For female candidates, the requirements are:

1. 1200-metre race in 7 minutes 30 seconds

2. Long jump – 9 feet, three attempts

3. Shot put – 4 kg, 14.5 feet, three attempts

Candidates must qualify all the prescribed tests separately. The notification further states that candidates who qualify the long race will be eligible to attempt the long jump, followed by push-ups for male candidates and shot put for female candidates. Both PST and PET are qualifying in nature.

Written Examination Pattern

Candidates who qualify the PST/PET and whose documents are found in order will become eligible for the written examination.

The written test will be of Objective/MCQ type, consisting of 100 questions for 100 marks. The examination duration will be 80 minutes.

The question paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi, and there will be no negative marking. The examination will be conducted at approximately the Matriculation level.

Written Exam Syllabus

The indicative syllabus carries a total of 100 marks.

The distribution is:

• General Knowledge – 60 marks

• Reasoning – 15 marks

• General Science – 10 marks

The General Knowledge section includes current national and international affairs, history, geography, economics, general polity and Constitution, awards and honours, sports, general awareness, environment and ecology, common abbreviations, current technological developments, and the history, art, culture, geography and current affairs of Ladakh.

Reasoning includes analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, visual memory, coding-decoding, non-verbal series, number series, alphabet series and similar areas.

General Science covers basic Physics, Chemistry and General Science, while Arithmetic includes number system, simple interest, average, ratio and proportion, percentage, profit and loss, time and work, work and wages, time and distance, fractions and decimals, LCM/HCF, simple equations, square roots, bar graphs and data interpretation.

Recruitment Process

The selection process will be conducted through several stages. The notification lists Physical Standard Test, Physical Endurance Test, scrutiny of original documents and certificates, scrutiny/assessment of NCC certificates, scrutiny/assessment of desired qualification and written examination.

The PST and PET are qualifying stages, while the written examination carries 100 marks. Incentive marks for NCC and desired qualifications may also be considered as prescribed in the notification.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹600 for candidates belonging to the Unreserved/EWS category.

For candidates belonging to SC, ST and ALC categories, the fee is ₹500.

The notification states that the fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Credit/Debit Cards and UPI on the recruitment portal while submitting the online application. Applications without the prescribed fee are liable to be rejected, and the fee once paid is not refundable except in cases specifically provided under the notification.

Examination Centres and Application Process

The recruitment process will be conducted at Leh and Kargil examination centres.

Candidates are required to indicate their preferred examination centre in the online application form. Once an examination centre is allotted or selected, changing the centre will ordinarily not be permitted after closure of the application process.

Applicants must submit their forms online through the designated recruitment portal of Ladakh Police. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that all details entered in the application, including their name, date of birth, category, domicile and other eligibility particulars, are correct.

Documents and Admit Card Requirements

Candidates qualifying the PET will be required to produce original documents along with self-attested copies. These include the Matriculation/10th certificate, domicile certificate, category certificate, district domicile or prescribed certificate for Women/Border Battalion vacancies, educational qualification certificate, SPO/VHG engagement certificate where applicable, Ex-Serviceman documents, NCC certificate, driving licence, computer application certificate and OSP-related certificates where applicable.

Candidates must also carry the required photographs and an original photo identity document when appearing for PST/PET and other examinations.

Important Instructions for Candidates

The notification advises applicants to submit their forms well before the closing date rather than waiting until the final day.

Candidates must ensure that their names and dates of birth match the records in their Matriculation certificates. They are also required to provide genuine and valid certificates wherever applicable.

Applicants claiming reservation benefits must ensure that they meet the prescribed conditions and possess certificates issued by the competent authority in the required format.

Candidates are required to provide a working mobile number and active email address in the application form. The notification also requires candidates to upload a recent passport-size colour photograph meeting the specified requirements.

The Board has stated that the recruitment process will follow its prescribed rules and that transparency measures may include electronic timing, biometric authentication, CCTV/video recording and other technological measures.
