Government Polytechnic College Pulwama Invites Applications for 5 Guest Faculty Posts

Government Polytechnic College-Pulwama, affiliated with the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has issued an advertisement inviting applications for temporary engagement as Guest Faculty for the Academic Session 2026-27.
The recruitment notice, bearing No. GPCP/IUST/2026/385 and dated September 2, 2026, is for eligible candidates who are domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The advertisement has been issued in pursuance of the approval conveyed through Government Order No. DSDD-141/2026-10-CC (7912019), dated August 31, 2026, of the Directorate of Skill Development, J&K.
Five Guest Faculty Posts Available
According to the recruitment notice, a total of five Guest Faculty positions are available across three engineering disciplines at Government Polytechnic College, Pulwama-IUST.
The discipline-wise vacancy details are as follows:
Computer Engineering: 3 Guest Faculty posts
Civil Engineering: 1 Guest Faculty post
Electrical Engineering: 1 Guest Faculty post
The total number of advertised vacancies is five.
For Computer Engineering, candidates must possess BE/B-Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) as the minimum qualification.
For the Civil Engineering position, the prescribed minimum qualification is BE/B-Tech in Civil Engineering.
For Electrical Engineering, candidates are required to have BE/B-Tech in Electrical Engineering.
Applications Invited from J&K Domiciles
The notice states that applications in the prescribed format, provided in the annexure, are invited from eligible candidates who are domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Applicants seeking temporary engagement as Guest Faculty are required to submit complete applications along with self-attested copies of all the required documents.
The completed application must reach the Office of the Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Pulwama-IUST within seven days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the newspaper/official website.
The application submission deadline is up to 3:00 PM. The notice makes clear that applications received after the stipulated date and time, or applications found incomplete in any respect, will not be entertained.
Selection to Be Based on Merit
The advertisement specifies that selection will be made purely on merit. The merit is to be calculated on a 100-point scale on a pro-rata basis, in accordance with Directorate Order No. 37 of 2023 dated January 24, 2023.
The merit calculation includes several components related to educational qualifications, certification, experience and interaction before the Selection Committee.
Candidates can receive up to 80 points for the basic essential qualification, calculated on a pro-rata basis.
A further 5 points have been earmarked for a higher relevant qualification.
Another 5 points are assigned for professional or technical certification, specifically a valid GATE/NET/SET qualification.
Relevant full-time teaching or training experience at the Polytechnic Diploma level or higher, obtained after the required qualification, carries 5 points. This component is calculated on a pro-rata basis, with 1 point for each completed academic year.
The remaining 5 points are allocated for structured interaction or demonstration before the Selection Committee.
Guest Faculty Remuneration
The selected Guest Faculty members will be paid remuneration according to Directorate Order No. 89-JK(DSD) of 2021, dated November 18, 2021.
As stated in the advertisement, the remuneration is Rs 750 per lecture, subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs 20,000 per month.
The payment terms therefore provide for lecture-based remuneration while placing a monthly limit on the amount payable to an engaged Guest Faculty member.
Engagement Will Be Temporary
The recruitment notice specifies that the engagement of Guest Faculty will be purely temporary and will be governed by the applicable guest-faculty norms.
The engagement is intended for one Academic Session only. The advertisement also states that such engagement will not create any right to regularisation, permanent absorption or continuation.
Before joining, the selected candidate will be required to submit an undertaking or affidavit duly attested by a First Class Judicial Magistrate.
The undertaking or affidavit must clearly state that the candidate will not claim continuation, regularisation or permanent absorption on any ground. It must also acknowledge that the engagement can be terminated at any time without notice.
Authority Reserves Right to Alter Recruitment Process
The notice states that the undersigned authority reserves the right to reject any incomplete or deficient application.
It also reserves the right to cancel or postpone the selection process or alter the number of posts notified in the advertisement, with reasons to be recorded and without assigning any reason to applicants.
Candidates are therefore required to ensure that their applications are complete and accompanied by the documents specified in the recruitment notice.
Documents Required with Application
Applicants have been instructed to attach self-attested copies of the required documents with their applications.
The list of documents mentioned in the advertisement includes:
Academic/technical qualification certificates and marks cards
Date of Birth certificate
Domicile certificate
Character certificate, in original
Experience certificate(s), if any
Valid GATE/NET/SET certificate, if applicable
Two recent passport-size photographs
Valid photo identity proof, such as an Aadhaar card or other valid identity document
Candidates applying for the advertised Guest Faculty positions are required to submit the application and supporting documents to the designated office within the prescribed timeframe and before the 3:00 PM deadline.
