FMGE Eligibility Certificate 2026: NMC Application Window Opens September 1, Check Dates and Guidelines

The National Medical Commission (NMC) is set to open its online application portal for the Eligibility Certificate (EC) required for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2026. According to the NMC notice, the application process will begin on September 1, 2026, at 10 AM.

Candidates who are required to obtain an Eligibility Certificate and have not secured one yet can submit their applications through the NMC’s online registration portal. The application window will remain available until September 30, 2026, with submissions accepted up to 6 PM on the closing date.

The commission has advised applicants to complete the process carefully and check all information before submitting their forms. Candidates have also been asked to keep the necessary documents ready in advance and provide an active mobile number while applying.

FMGE Eligibility Certificate 2026: Important Dates

The schedule announced for the Eligibility Certificate application process is as follows:

  • Online application begins: September 1, 2026, at 10 AM

  • Last date to submit application: September 30, 2026, up to 6 PM

  • Application portal: NMC’s online registration portal

  • Candidates who have already submitted an application for an Eligibility Certificate to the NMC in the past do not need to submit another application, as stated in the public notice.

The commission has specifically addressed candidates who have not yet obtained the certificate and instructed them to use the NMC portal during the prescribed application period.

    Eligibility Certificate Required for FMGE

The Eligibility Certificate is relevant for candidates who are required to possess it for the FMGE screening process. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) may schedule the FMGE screening test in the coming months.

Candidates who are required to have an Eligibility Certificate cannot apply for the screening test without the certificate issued by the NMC. Therefore, applicants who still need the certificate have been advised to complete the EC application process within the specified dates.

The NMC has urged such candidates not to delay their applications and to ensure that the information submitted in the form matches their original documents.

NMC Advisory for Candidates Applying for the EC

Along with announcing the application schedule, the NMC has issued several instructions for candidates. The commission has advised applicants to preferably complete the Eligibility Certificate application themselves rather than using a proxy.

Candidates should also keep all the required documents available before beginning the application process. This can help them enter the required information correctly and check the details against their original records before submitting the form.

The NMC has placed particular emphasis on verifying every entry in the application. Candidates have been advised to ensure that the information entered in the form conforms to the details mentioned in their original documents.

    Active Mobile Number Required

Applicants have also been asked to provide an active mobile number while submitting their Eligibility Certificate applications. The NMC said this is important because candidates may need to be contacted if any deficiency is identified in their application.

If the commission communicates a deficiency to an applicant, the candidate should rectify it as quickly as possible. The advisory indicates that addressing such issues promptly can help applicants avoid a last-minute rush.

The NMC has therefore advised candidates to ensure that the mobile number provided in the application remains active and accessible during the processing of their application.

Candidates Advised to Check Details Carefully

The commission has stressed the need for due diligence while completing the Eligibility Certificate application. Candidates should carefully review the information they have entered and compare it with their original documents before final submission.

According to the NMC advisory, applicants should ensure that all entries conform to their original records. The commission has stated that following these measures can support faster processing and approval of applications.

The NMC has clarified that the measures mentioned in its advisory are suggestive and not exhaustive. Candidates are therefore expected to exercise appropriate care throughout the application process.

With the online application window scheduled to open on September 1, candidates who have not yet obtained the required Eligibility Certificate should keep their documents ready and complete the application within the prescribed deadline of September 30, 2026, by 6 PM.
