JKSSB Notification No. 13 of 2025: Syllabus Released for AHTO, Supervisor, MVT Assistant and Transport Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued the syllabus for several posts advertised under Advertisement Notification No. 13 of 2025 dated December 26, 2025. The syllabus notice is dated August 10, 2026 and covers posts in the Industries and Commerce, Social Welfare and Transport departments. The detailed syllabi have been provided through Annexures A to H.

The notice has been issued by the JKSSB for the information of concerned candidates. It also states that the syllabi for the remaining posts will be notified separately. The posts covered in the present notice include Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer, Assistant Handlooms Training Officer, Supervisor, Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistant, Fitter, Greaser Washer, Mechanic, Stores Officer and Upholster.

JKSSB Syllabus 2026: Posts Covered

According to the notification, the syllabus has been released for Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer and Assistant Handlooms Training Officer under the Industries and Commerce Department, Supervisor under the Social Welfare Department, and several posts under the Transport Department.

The Transport Department posts covered are Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistant, Fitter, Greaser Washer, Mechanic, Stores Officer and Upholster. The notice assigns separate syllabus annexures to these posts, with Annexures A to H containing the respective examination syllabi.

Assistant Handicrafts and Handlooms Training Officer Syllabus

For the Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer and Assistant Handlooms Training Officer posts, the examination carries 120 marks and has a duration of two hours. The syllabus includes General Awareness with special reference to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, General English and Comprehension, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Basic Knowledge of Computers.

The General Awareness section covers current national and international events, India's political and physical divisions, climate and crops, transport and communication, demography, important rivers and lakes, the Indian economy, culture and heritage, history with special reference to the freedom movement, the Constitution of India, science and technology, environment, ecology and biodiversity, and taxation.

For Jammu and Kashmir, the syllabus specifically includes history, economy, geography, heritage and culture, important tourist destinations and the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019. Centrally Sponsored Schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY and SBM, along with Panchayati Raj Act/Rules, are also included.

The English section includes tenses, narration, modals, articles, reading comprehension, clauses, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, prepositions, active and passive voice, error spotting, sentence correction and spelling correction. Reasoning covers number and letter series, analogies, classifications, logical reasoning, problem solving, symbolic operations, space orientation, Venn diagrams and other reasoning areas.

Quantitative Aptitude includes number-related calculations, profit and loss, discount, partnership, mixture and alligation, time and distance, time and work, percentage, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry and data representation through graphs and charts.

The computer section covers basic computer applications, computer fundamentals, hardware and software, input and output devices, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, PDF, Internet and email, computer viruses and antivirus concepts, as well as the role of information technology in governance.

Supervisor Syllabus Under Social Welfare Department

The syllabus for the Supervisor in Mission Poshan, Social Welfare Department provides for a 120-mark objective-type written test with a duration of 120 minutes. The examination is intended to assess scientific, analytical and numerical aptitude, general awareness and specialised knowledge, with English specified as the medium of examination.

The paper includes General Awareness with special reference to J&K, General English and Comprehension, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, Computer and a major Specialization component carrying 60 marks.

The specialization syllabus is divided into six units. It covers society, community and association; social stratification; social institutions; marriage, kinship and family; and social change including industrialization, globalization and modernization. Other areas include gender inequalities, gender law, human rights, human development, socialization and anxiety disorders.

Further units cover human rights and their evolution, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, sex and gender, women and child rights, social evils, poverty and unemployment, population issues, climate change, social development indicators, trafficking, beggary and corruption.

The final units include growth and development, food and nutrition, health and fitness, food science and processing, food hygiene, government and non-government programmes, health and family welfare programmes, early childhood care, old-age and disability schemes, Poshan Abhiyan, Poshan Tracker, Anganwadi Services, PMMVY, SAG, JSY, NHM, Paalna, Ladli Beti Schemes and the State Marriage Assistance Scheme.

Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistant Syllabus

The Motor Vehicle Traffic Assistant written examination carries 120 marks and has a duration of two hours. Its syllabus focuses extensively on motor vehicle legislation, Central Motor Vehicle Rules, traffic regulation and control, road safety and vehicle awareness.

Major areas include driving licence requirements, vehicle registration, fitness certificates, permits, overloading, dangerous driving, drunken driving and related provisions. The Central Motor Vehicles Rules section covers registration details, vehicle fitness, safety devices, helmets and seat belts, child restraints, speed control, mobile phone violations, breath analysers, road safety awareness and digital transport systems.

The syllabus also includes traffic flow management, crowd and vehicle management, diversion planning, pedestrian safety, accident prevention, first aid, accident reporting, road signs and signals, lane discipline and mandatory vehicle documents. It further covers road transport systems, driver and fleet management, traffic management and road transport operations.

Fitter and Mechanic Syllabus

The Fitter syllabus covers vehicle maintenance, automotive engines, transmission systems, suspension, steering, brakes, tyres, automotive electrical systems and workshop tools and equipment. Topics include preventive maintenance, engine oils, cooling systems, fuel systems, clutches, gearboxes, braking systems, steering components and wheel alignment.

The Mechanic syllabus carries 120 marks over two hours and includes vehicle maintenance, driveline, running gear, electrical and electronic systems, engine servicing and advanced vehicle diagnostics. The engine servicing component covers petrol and diesel engines, CNG and LPG systems, engine overhaul, fuel injection systems, emission standards and hybrid and electric vehicle basics. Advanced diagnostics includes diagnostic scanners, digital multimeters, OBD-II codes, fault interpretation and engine diagnostics.

Greaser Washer and Stores Officer Syllabus

The Greaser Washer syllabus focuses on automobile servicing, automobile engineering and lubrication fundamentals, followed by driveline service, battery and electrical systems, tyres, car washing and detailing. It includes safe handling practices, lubricants, grease, brake fluids, power steering fluids, tyre maintenance and precautions while cleaning sensitive vehicle components.

For the Stores Officer, the syllabus covers mechanical and electrical engineering basics, automotive technology and store management. Store management includes receipt, storage and issue of automobile spares, inventory control, procurement and purchase procedures, inspection and quality control, documentation and records, and safety practices.

Upholster Syllabus

The Upholster examination syllabus carries 120 marks with a two-hour duration. It covers sewing technology, sewing tools and equipment, needles, threads and materials, stitches and seams, upholstery fabrication, automotive upholstery and upholstery maintenance.

The automotive upholstery portion includes measurement of seats and panels, stitching according to seat contours, allowance for stretching and shrinkage, seat-cover stitching, door-trim and roof-lining sewing, and covers for headrests, armrests and boots. Maintenance topics include fabric and leather damage, burns, cuts, abrasions, foam deformation, roof-lining issues, patching, vinyl and leather repair, needle replacement, cleaning, lubrication and preventive maintenance.
