JKSSB Mega Recruitment 2026: 2,863 Class-IV Posts Notification Out, Matric/10+2 & 8th Pass Eligible; Check Dates, Age, Fee and Selection

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 2,863 Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker posts across various departments of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The recruitment has been notified through Advertisement Notification No. 09 of 2026, dated September 1, 2026.

The vacancies have been advertised under UT, Divisional and District Cadres, with posts distributed among different departments. Eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications through the online mode from October 5, 2026. The last date for submission of online application forms is November 3, 2026.

JKSSB Recruitment 2026: 2,863 Vacancies

According to the notification, the JKSSB has received requisitions for filling 2,863 vacancies through direct recruitment. The posts are spread across different departments and cadres in Jammu and Kashmir.

The vacancy distribution includes 105 posts under the UT Cadre, 1,990 posts under the Divisional Cadre and 768 posts under the District Cadre, taking the overall total to 2,863 posts. The detailed cadre-wise and department-wise distribution is provided in Annexure A of the notification.

The notification includes Class-IV (MTS) and Sanitation Worker positions in departments such as Agriculture Production, Horticulture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, ARI & Trainings, Culture, Estates, Higher Education, Public Works (R&B), Transport and other departments listed in the vacancy annexure.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualification differs according to the post.

For Class-IV (MTS) posts, candidates must have a minimum qualification of Matriculation and a maximum qualification of 10+2.

For Sanitation Worker posts, the prescribed qualification is minimum 8th pass and maximum 10+2. These requirements have been specified in accordance with the rules and government orders cited in the JKSSB notification.

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification will have to produce their original educational qualification certificates. The required qualification must have been acquired on or before the applicable cut-off date. Candidates whose qualifications do not match the prescribed requirements can have their candidature rejected during the recruitment process.

JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The age requirement is calculated as on January 1, 2026.

For candidates belonging to the Open Merit (OM) category, the maximum age limit is 40 years, with the candidate required to have been born between the dates specified in the notification.

For SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC categories, the maximum age limit is 43 years. For Physically Challenged Persons, the maximum age limit is 42 years.

The notification also provides for applicable age-related provisions for Ex-Servicemen. In addition, candidates claiming the benefit of additional weightage as casual workers under the Jammu & Kashmir Appointment to Class IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020 will receive a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit, as specified in the notification.

Application Dates

The JKSSB recruitment application process will begin on October 5, 2026.

The last date for submitting the online application form is November 3, 2026. The Board has stated that applications will be accepted only through the online mode, and details concerning the application portal will be made available separately on the JKSSB website.

Candidates are advised to complete their applications carefully rather than waiting until the final day. The notification also states that requests for corrections or changes after submission will not be entertained under the specified conditions.

Application Fee

The prescribed application fee is ₹600 for candidates in the applicable general categories.

Candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. The fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.

Applications submitted without the prescribed fee will not be considered. The notification further states that the fee, once paid, will not be refunded or adjusted against another examination or selection process, subject to the provisions mentioned in the notice.

Selection Process

The selection process is based on a written examination along with additional points prescribed under the applicable rules.

For UT Cadre posts, the written test carries 85 marks, while up to 15 additional marks are allocated under specified criteria. These include candidates whose family members have not been in government service, eligible widows, divorced women, judicially separated women and orphan girls, as well as eligible casual workers engaged for five years or more.

For Divisional Cadre posts, the written test carries 80 marks, with the remaining 20 marks allocated under the specified additional criteria, including Home Division status, applicable family-service status, eligible women/orphan categories and qualifying casual workers.

For District Cadre posts, the written examination carries 75 marks, while 10 marks are assigned for being a candidate of the Home District and the remaining marks are allocated under the other prescribed criteria. The total selection score is 100 marks.

Written Examination Pattern

The written examination will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions. The questions will be set in English only.

JKSSB has also prescribed negative marking, with one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question deducted for every wrong answer. The syllabus for the posts will be notified separately and made available on the official JKSSB website.

The date and examination centres will also be announced separately by the Board. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official JKSSB website for examination-related updates, including roll number slips and other information.

Document Verification and Domicile Requirement

Applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority by the cut-off date, which is November 3, 2026, unless the deadline is extended.

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification will be required to appear with their original documents and self-attested copies. These may include educational qualification certificates, Birth Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Category Certificate and other documents required under the notification.

The Board has clarified that candidature remains provisional until the genuineness and validity of the submitted documents are verified. Candidates failing to produce the required original documents at Document Verification will not be considered for selection.

Important Points for Applicants

Candidates should carefully check their educational qualification, age, domicile and category-related requirements before applying. The vacancy figures may increase or decrease during or before completion of the selection process, as stated in the notification.

The final allocation of cadres and departments will be carried out through the merit-cum-preference method. Candidates may be asked to indicate their cadre and department preferences either in the online application form or at a later stage, as decided by the Board. Once the allocation is notified, it will be final and binding under the terms of the notification.

The JKSSB recruitment notification therefore provides opportunities for candidates with qualifications ranging from 8th pass to 10+2, depending on the post.
