Central University of Kashmir Opens Admission for One-Year PG Programmes 2026; Registration Underway for Nine Courses

The Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Ganderbal, has announced admissions to its one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes for the academic session 2026-27 under the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 framework.

The admission opportunity is available under the “Multiple-Entry Multiple-Exit” scheme and is meant for candidates who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree — B.A., B.Sc. or B.Com. with Honours — in the relevant discipline.

According to the admission notice dated July 27, 2026, eligible candidates interested in pursuing any of the notified postgraduate programmes can register according to the schedule announced by the university.

Central University of Kashmir PG Admission 2026 Registration Dates

The registration process for the one-year postgraduate programmes began on July 27, 2026, at 5:30 PM.

Candidates have until August 6, 2026, up to 11:55 PM to complete their registration.

The registration link and detailed admission information have been made available through the Central University of Kashmir admission portal.

Candidates belonging to the General/UR category are required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 500.

For SC, ST, OBC, PwD, EWS and women candidates, the registration fee has been fixed at Rs. 250.

Nine One-Year PG Programmes Offered

The Central University of Kashmir has announced admissions to nine postgraduate programmes under the one-year PG structure for the 2026-27 academic session.

The programmes listed in the admission notification are M.Sc. Botany, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Zoology, M.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Physics, M.A. English, M.A. Urdu, M.Com. Commerce and M.A. Mass Communication & Journalism.

The university has specified that the intake in each of these programmes will be six seats.

Eligibility Criteria for CUK One-Year PG Admission 2026

Candidates seeking admission must have passed a four-year B.A., B.Sc. or B.Com. Honours degree in the relevant subject or discipline.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 160 credits and should possess the required CGPA of 6.5 or an equivalent percentage of marks, as prescribed by the department concerned.

These eligibility requirements are applicable to students seeking admission under the one-year postgraduate arrangement announced by the university.

Entry Directly Into Third Semester

Eligible students selected through the admission process will be admitted directly to the third semester of the respective two-year postgraduate programme.

In the case of the respective five-year integrated programme, admission will be made to the ninth semester.

Students will then complete the remaining two semesters to become eligible for the award of the postgraduate degree.

This provision forms part of the “Multiple-Entry Multiple-Exit” structure under NEP-2020 and provides a lateral-entry option for eligible students to enter directly into the second year of a postgraduate programme.

Duration and Credit Requirements

The postgraduate degree for students admitted through this route will have a duration of one year and will consist of two semesters.

Candidates will be required to complete a minimum of 40 credits along with a postgraduate dissertation.

The university has also laid down conditions concerning equivalence and the transfer of credits earned during undergraduate studies.

Equivalence and Credit Transfer Rules

Admission will be subject to the mapping and equivalence of courses, which will be ensured by the concerned Departmental Admission Committee.

The credits earned by candidates during their undergraduate programme will be evaluated and considered by the committee either directly or through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

Depending upon the requirements of the respective postgraduate programme, students will also have to enrol in particular Non-CGPA courses recommended by the Departmental Committee.

The university has made it clear that these requirements will be considered as part of the admission and academic process for students entering through the one-year postgraduate route.

CUK PG Admission 2026 Selection Criteria

Admission to the notified programmes will be based on the merit secured by candidates in their qualifying four-year B.A., B.Sc. or B.Com. Honours examination in the relevant subject or discipline.

However, the university has stated that preference will be given to candidates who appeared in CUET-2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Candidates should therefore carefully review the eligibility and admission conditions before completing the registration process.

Six Seats Available in Each Programme

The intake capacity announced by the Central University of Kashmir is six seats in each postgraduate programme.

With nine programmes included in the notification, applicants can seek admission to the relevant programme subject to their eligibility, merit and the other conditions prescribed by the university.

The university has further stated that all other eligibility conditions, reservation policies and admission procedures of the Central University of Kashmir will continue to remain applicable.

Registration Support and Contact Details

Candidates who face issues or require clarification regarding the registration process can contact the university during office hours.

The Central University of Kashmir has provided the contact numbers 9797959391 and 7889593153 for registration-related queries.
